In a smoky Reykjavík pizza bar, Thor’s first love was the blues; music that connected directly to the heart and ignited listeners through soaring rock and blues performances. Growing up in Iceland, shaped by the extremes of long, dark winters and the disorienting brightness of the midnight sun, he developed an early sensitivity to atmosphere, contrast, and emotional honesty. A fascination with theatrical storytelling, sparked by Pink Floyd, soon led him into an international career in musical theatre.
A transformative chapter in Canada followed, where Thor recorded his solo album Running Naked on Cape Breton Island. The album earned him an East Coast Music Awards nomination and marked a turning point in his artistic voice.
Returning to Iceland, Thor reconnected with both his roots and the landscapes that continue to shape his work. His songwriting now centres on stories of love, memory, and shared humanity; shaped by seasons of introspection and openness, silence and song, ever since we first gathered around fires, listened to the wind outside, and looked up at the night sky wondering why we are here in this strange and wonderful world.
Alongside new solo material and an upcoming international series of intimate singer-songwriter concerts, Thor continues to develop original musical theatre works, including his comedy rock musical HARK, which had a limited run at Tjarnarbíó in 2024 and is now in further development.
Beyond releases and performances, Thor shares his creative process openly through journals, videos, and intimate performances with a growing international community.
Thor’s music aims straight for the heart; his voice is unmistakable, powerful, and deeply human.
